Dec 15 Handmade Holiday: Make a Sashiko Gift Bag!
Sashiko Hand-Stitched Bag
Dec 15th 11AM - 2PM
TEENS WELCOME!
Give the gift of handmade this holiday season. Create a one-of-a-kind reusable gift bag with shacko embroidery taught by the amazing Rachel Harriette. (She's one of our favorite guest instructors!) You might want to keep this gift bag for yourself!
Engage in the serene, time-honored practice of Sashiko Japanese Embroidery. Use a simple running stitch, to transform linen into a small, embellished and practical bag. All steps of the Sashiko “small stabs” process will be covered; drawing out grids or stencils, laying out patterns, making a stitching plan. Choose from traditional Sashiko patterns and Floral Motif stencils. We will hand sew the two decorated fabric panels into a fully-functional drawstring bag. All tools and materials provided.
Each class kit will include a pair of Sashiko needles, one skein of thread, a tapestry needle threader, a pair of linen fabric squares, ribbons for the drawstring, and take-home pattern instructions. Plus access to colorful communal Sashiko threads, fabric markers, pencils, stencils, templates, and rulers.
Please bring your good reading glasses!
We'll have some snacks and drinks available. Please let us know about any food allergies. Please inform us if you need the class to be masked, we are happy to accommodate.
Please see info on location and refund policy here.
